Dear Loyal Readers and Listeners,
This is fund drive week at Michigan Radio, and the fourth draft of my book — gasp! — is due Monday, which is also why I wrote only one column in March — sorry! Should have let you know.
In the meantime, I’m speaking at the TEDxUofM conference today at the Power Center. I’ll be getting up there sometime between about 11:25-45 or so. My talk only goes ten minutes, but the timing depends on other speakers. It’s sold out, but it will be live streamed (and taped for later) at http://tedxuofm.com/
My simple message: when we look at history, we too often see it as inevitable (it was not), and when we consider the future, we overestimate technology, and underestimate ourselves. But there will be no quiz — promise.
Saw some other speakers in rehearsal, who looked very good. So, should be some good stuff.
See you next week!
-John

Please join the conversation, but remember: I run only those letters from those who are profane or insane, and who include their FULL name.
NO RADIO THIS WEEK!
BUT NEXT WEEK: Radio stuff: On Friday mornings, these commentaries run at 8:50 on Michigan Radio (91.7 Ann Arbor/Detroit, Flint, 104.1 Grand Rapids), and a few minutes later, I join Sam Webb and Ira Weintraub LIVE from 9:05 to 9:25 on WTKA.com, 1050 AM. On Sunday mornings, from the start of football season to the end of March Madness, I co-host “Off the Field” with the legendary Jamie Morris on WTKA from 10-11 a.m. And yes, there will be a quiz, so “stop what you’re doing, and listen!”

Hi John, Would love to hear your thoughts on the new crop of teams in the Frozen Four. My favorite is UMass Lowell. Perhaps a thought on the Jack Parker retirement. That guy was around when I was but a wee high school lad in NE. He is a New England hockey legend.
