Reviews, excerpts and stories on “Three and Out”

by | Oct 25, 2011 | Uncategorized | 4 comments

Dear Loyal Readers,

It’s been a very busy week already — and it’s only Tuesday!  I suspect you fine folks have a lot to do with that, as “Three and Out” has debuted at #24 overall on amazon.com.  So, THANK YOU!

Insofar as I imagine the book’s most loyal readers are the Loyal Readers I meet with here, I thought you might enjoy some of these reviews, excerpts and stories about “Three and Out.”  I’ll be adding more later this week as the Detroit News continues to publish an excerpt every day through this week, ESPN.com is running an excerpt soon, and stories and reviews of the book continue to come in.  And, if you come across something I’ve missed, feel free to add it in the comments section.

The major point, however, is simple: THANK YOU!

    Dear Mr. Bacon,

This is a silly question but has anybody been comparing you to Gossip Girl? I’ll admit a guilty pleasure of indulging in the television series and couldn’t help but notice the recent similarities where current episodes have featured a character publishing a book called “Inside” about life on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The author had earned access to a life in which he normally would have been an outsider and his account was published to a positive critcal reaction…yet with a chilly reception from his subjects (and friends).

With the timing, I couldn’t help but notice some of the similarities. Anyways…just a small piece of art imitating life (or is it vice versa?) from the cultural fringe that I thought I’d share.

Sheesh. I can’t WAIT ’til my copy comes in the mail. From what I’ve read of your book so far and what I remember of late ’07, I’m climbing the walls over Carr’s lack of political skill anywhere but on the football field. Your answer to a question below on the institutional hole left by Bo’s death is telling. My word, can anyone at UM play this political game at all? Allowing Miles to be checkmated with no real options otherwise, then leaving Rodriguez to stand naked in the middle of the room like that? I’ve been a Michigan fan since I moved here in 1970. Makes me wonder why.

John, I really enjoyed your interview with Bill Simonson (aka “Huge”) today. Definitely one of the most intelligent and interesting interviews one is ever bound to hear on the usually knuckle-dragging sports talk radio.

I’m looking forward to reading your book.

Nice job on Drew and Mike this morning… That and the excerpts have whetted my appetite… Nice job marketing – will be picking the book up this weekend!
